The Torah MiTzion Beit Midrash in the European capital was founded together with the Sha’rei Tzion community of Brussels, in close cooperation with its president
Mr Maurice Tal.
It was established in 2015 in order to create a new gravitating point for limud and Jewish activities in a city that counts roughly 20,000 Jews but a relatively short offer of Jewish infrastructure.
Torah MiTzion of Brussels has as objective to serve and impact both its core Sha’arei Tzion community, both also the general Jewish population of Brussels, which like many other European communities suffers both from assimilation and antisemitism.
Moreover we seek to reach many of the thousands of Jewish students from Belgium and from all over Europe that learn in the many universities of Brussels and its neighboring academic city of Louvain.
The pioneers and first shlichim of Torah MiTzion Brussels are Rav Yonathan and Elisheva Seror together with their 7 children. Both were born and raised in France and made their Aliya many years ago. Rav Yonathan taught many years in the French-speaking Yeshiva of Kochav Ya’akov and is finishing his Dayanut exams. Elisheva taught many years in Israeli high schools. She’s directing the local Chabbad kindergarten as well as Brussels’ Bnei Akiva. She also offers learning opportunities for local women.
Rav Yonathan serves as the formal rabbi of the Sha’arei Tzion community and Torah MiTzion’s Rosh Beit Midrash. He offers a varied range of shiurim in many topics for men, women – young and elderly.
