Torah MiTzion established the ‘Lev Yehudi’ project in India (2002) for Israeli travelers and backpackers in India (Dharamshala and Hampi) with the goal of operating a warm Jewish home for them. A home away from home.
A family of shlichim hosts a variety of activities around Jewish thought and values, through which the travelers get to know and experience and renew their own connection to Judaism and Zionism.
Lev Yehudi meets the different levels of the traveler’s needs:
- A warm welcoming home
- Kosher food
- A sense of personal security and belonging
- Social connection and connection to the community of travelers
- A Jewish center for holding prayers, Shabbat and holiday meals, Jewish and national holiday ceremonies, content workshops, learning Torah in chavrutot
All leading and building a meaningful Jewish and Israeli identity.
‘Lev Yehudi’ is open to Israeli travelers in India presenting warm Jewish homes initiating a renewed encounter with the Jewish-Israeli identity from within the freedom of the journey.
Current (2023-2024) Torah MiTzion shlichim at the Lev Yehudi project in Hampi are Dan and Hadar Katz.
