The New Year has begun. With our current shlichim overseas, it was time to gather the shlichim of 2018-19 who just returned home!
Every year, Torah MiTzion hosts an annual evening event to thank the previous year’s shlichim, giving them time to reflect on and summarize their shlichut. We started the night by giving everyone time to catch up with their friends, followed by a delicious dinner everyone enjoyed. Rabbi Yedidya Noiman gave us an interesting Dvar Torah about Simchat Torah.
After dinner, the shlichim participated in a workshop given by Yishai Zinger. Yishai also ran a workshop before they left on shlichut, which made this opportunity more significant.
Shabtai Pessin, former shaliach in Cape Town, spoke about his shlichut and how it affected him, and how it continues to affect him back home as well. He encourages others to go on shlichut.
To conclude the evening, Dudi and Shoshana Yaberboim, parents of Ayal hy”d, who was murdered in a terror attack fourteen years ago on Erev Rosh Hashanah, gifted everyone a book dedicated in his memory. The book is a compilation of articles on the Simanim of Rosh Hashanah. Ayal was a shaliach in Montevideo in 1999-2000.
