Last week we held our annual Summer Shlichim Training Seminar for the outgoing, 2017-18 shlichim.
Among a myriad of subjects, they heard professional lectures on Diaspora Jewry, participated in workshops on teamwork and leadership and enjoyed an uplifting Shabbat together with the Torah MiTzion staff and their families.
We capped off the seminar with the traditional farewell ceremony, hosted, once again by the Lev Academic Center in Jerusalem.
We were honored by the presence of The Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi David Lau Shlit”a. He spoke of the immense importance of teaching Torat Eretz Yisrael in the Diaspora and of the long lasting effect each shaliach can have on Jews they meet.
We also highlighted our highly successful Kollel in Moscow, which is now celebrating it’s 20th (!) year. We were happy to honor Rabbi David and Ayelet Yushuvayev, the founding Rosh Kollel and give them an award recognizing the deep and long lasting impact they have made on Jews in Moscow.
The families and outgoing shlichim hear Paulina (Ruth) Remez, who grew up in Kaliningrad, Russia. She told her personal story of connecting to Judaism and observance through her connection with the shlichim in Moscow. She since made Aliyah and established a family in Efrat.
We wish the best of luck to the dozens of young shlichim and 4 families will soon be setting out to over a dozen communities to spread Torat Eretz Yisrael.
